AUBURN HILLS, MICHIGAN, December 19, 2019 – To help aid the recovery and rehabilitation of pediatric cancer patients, Mahindra Automotive North America is proud to announce a charitable partnership with the Chattanooga, TN-based Austin Hatcher Foundation—the stated mission of which is to “erase the effects of pediatric cancer and optimize each child’s quality of life through essential specialized intervention beginning at the time of diagnosis and continuing through survivorship.”
MANA has donated one of its iconic ROXOR vehicles to the Industrial Art Therapy Division of the Austin Hatcher Foundation so that pediatric cancer patients and their families can work together on a “custom-build” of the vehicle. Once modified, the donated ROXOR will be auctioned off to generate added funding and support for the Foundation and its initiatives. Earlier this year, another donated vehicle customized by patients and families at the Austin Hatcher Foundation garnered over $225,000 for the future support of its mission.
Industrial Art Therapy aims to improve and develop family and team-building skills; treat and improve coordination deficits resulting from chemotherapy, radiation and/or surgical treatment; and improve behavioral, memory and learning deficits that result from cancer and its effects on both the patients and family members. To enhance the enjoyment and engagement of all involved in IAT and the ROXOR custom build, Prototype Managers at MANA have volunteered to lend their support and expertise and are planning regular visits to the Austin Hatcher Foundation headquarters in Chattanooga in order to teach automotive-based classes for patients and their families.
“ROXOR is a very buildable vehicle platform, said Justin Prann, VP of Sales and Service for Mahindra Automotive North America. “We’re very excited to see what patients and their families will do with the vehicle and are proud to be playing a part in raising funds for the great work the Austin Hatcher Foundation is doing.”
MANA’s ROXOR donation may be the first of many charitable collaborations with the Austin Hatcher Foundation, as plans are already in the works to help share the excitement of Mahindra’s Formula E Racing Team with pediatric cancer patients by granting them (along with their families) the opportunity to experience this exciting race series.
